Abstract
Background and aims: Maternal obesity has been linked to the development of cardiovascular disease and diabetes in offspring, but its relationship to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is unclear.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS:
The intestinal microbiome might affect development and severity of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We analyzed microbiomes of children with and without NAFLD.

Mitochondrial role in the neonatal predisposition to developing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Abstract
What is NAFLD?
NAFLD i.e. non alcoholic fatty liver disease is a medical condition, in which the fat content of the liver is increased. This causes damage to liver cells and their death. Further, the function of liver is disturbed, and it becomes increasingly stiff or fibrosed (cirrhosis)
Usually, such a degeneration of liver is seen in chronic alcoholics. However, NAFLD constitutes a group of patients who do not consume a significant amount of alcohol, and still exhibit similar changes in liver. Hence the name, non alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND:
NAFLD has now become a common cause of chronic liver disease in children, however unlike adults liver transplantation is rarely required as treatment. It is important that in children presenting with NAFLD, secondary causes of fatty liver particularly inherited metabolic defects should be excluded.

Abstract
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a highly prevalent chronic liver disease that occurs in the setting of insulin resistance and increased adiposity. It has rapidly evolved into the most common liver disease seen in the pediatric population and is a management challenge for general pediatric practitioners, subspecialists and for health systems. In this guideline, the expert committee on NAFLD (ECON) reviewed and summarized the available literature, formulating recommendations to guide screening and clinical care of children with NAFLD.
